Dimitrov lost to Ferrer in Cincinnati
-->Despite giving a great performance yesterday in Cincinnati, Dimitrov lost to David Ferrer 4:6, 6:1, 7:5 after 2 hours and 23 minutes of play. Ferrer was just coming back from a wrist injury and was a little rusty, especially in the first set, when Grigor had an early break for 4:1. However, the Spaniard started to find the range in the second set and fought off all three of Dimitrov’s break points. Ferrer had also three break points, the last at 5:1 to win the set.
Grigor had several spectacular shots in the last set, he even had two break chances at 4:4, but sadly he could not realize them, allowing Ferrer to take the advantage 4 times at 5:6, and ultimately win the match.
For his participation at the Cincinnati Masters Dimitrov gained 45 ranking points and $ 17 040. He has to defend 27 ranking points for winning the ITF Futures in Spain last year, so he actually adds only 18 points to his balance. This can result in Dimitrov climbing another four positions up in the Ranking List, reaching #52, which will be his new own record.
Dimitrov’s next challenge will be the ATP 250 tournament in Winston-Salem with prize money $625,000, starting next week. Some of the other players participating in the tournament are Roddick, Fish, Isner, Harrison, Dolgopolov, Meltzer and Baghdatis.
