New best ever ATP ranking for Grigor Dimitrov
Bulgaria’s first racket Grigor Dimitrov continues to ascend in the ATP Rank List to his current 268 position. Eight positions higher than last ranking it is a new record-breaking position for the young bulgarian tennis player. He reached the second round in mens singles and the final in doubles at the American Express Ted Open ATP Challenger in Istanbul with total prize money $50 000.
Grisho defeated worlds former number 40 Nicolas Mahut of France in the first round, but he lost in the second to Martin Fischer of Austria 6-4 7-6(4). Grigor Dimitrov and Marsel Ilhan (Turkey) took the first set but lost the final doubles match against Frederico Gil (Portugal) and Filip Prpic (Sweden) 6-3 2-6 (6-10).
The points he gained in Turkey allowed Grisho to ascend to the 268 position in the ATP Singles Rankings and now he has 199 points. Much more impressive is the progress he made in the Doubles Ranking – he climbed 413 positions to number 709 with 67 points.
